A Victorian gilt-brass eight day striking and repeating chronometer carriage clock Dent, London, No. 22006. Circa 1857 The case with recessed top and leaf-cast tie to square section handle, bevelled glasses to top, rear and sides with repeat button to right side glass, the detachable rear door with shuttered winding holes with lock positioned in the base, gilt engine turned mask to the white enamel Willis-style Roman dial, recessed seconds disc at XII, blued steel hands, signed DENT/35 COCKSPUR ST/LONDON/22006 , the twin chain and fusee movement with maintaining power, large gilt-brass platform with side guard, Earnshaw-type spring detent escapement with cut bimetallic balance and blued steel helical balance spring, circular heat compensation weights with fine adjustment screws and diamond endstone, strike on large blued steel gong, strike/silent lever to the back plate also with full repeat signature 7 in. (18 cm.) high, handle down
