A MEISSEN TEABOWL AND SAUCER, circa 1735, the saucer with a European landscape scene depicting a figure on horseback beneath a tree with buildings in the distance, the teabowl with a very similar scene to one side and a Kauffahrtei scene to the other depicting merchants going about their business, all within gilt-edged quatrelobe cartouches filled with Böttger lustre and embellished with purple and iron-red scrollwork, gilt foliate scrollwork borders to the rims, the teabowl with a spray of indianische Blumen to the interior, the saucer with concentric red banding to the underside, the saucer 12.5cm diameter, crossed swords marks in underglaze-blue, incised / inside the footrim of the teabowl (2) PROVENANCE: Private German collection.
