A Meissen porcelain Rococo figural garniture of the Four Seasons 1755-1760, marked with small underglaze blue crossed swords Gilt and painted in colours, modelled by J.J. Kaendler as a rocaille urn enclosing a cartouche, on a circular pedestal base, comprising: - Spring with a cartouche depicting an aristocratic gallant couple seated on a bench in front of a gate, flanked by a servant holding a tray with a goblet, with a distant view of a shepherd and his flock, the flower-encrusted body applied with a winged cherub modelled as a Zephyr amongst clouds, a scantily clad putto holding a flower-filled basket to the base; - Summer with a cartouche depicting a couple of peasants flanked by large fruit-filled baskets and a black shepherd's dog, with a distant view of peasants harvesting with scythes, the fruit-encrusted body applied with a nude putto holding a sheaf of corn, a brooding bird to the base; - Autumn with a cartouche depicting a farm with various vintners, with apple-filled baskets to the foreground, the body applied allover with vine leaves and bunches of grapes, a putto holding bunches of grapes to the base; - Winter with a cartouche depicting a lady seated in a horse-drawn sleigh with a driver, a fortress-like structure to the background, the body encrusted with icicles, surmounted with a burning fire, applied with a putto clad in a fur-lined blue cape warming his hands over a stove 31.5-34 cm. high See illustrations
