Beschreibung:

The Mercedes-Benz R129 models were produced from 1989 through to 2001 and were sold under the SL-Class model names. The R129 replaced the R107 SL-Class in 1989 and was subsequently replaced by the R230 in 2001.The R129 was based on the shortened floorpan of the Mercedes-Benz W124 saloon and featured many innovative details for the time; for example, electronically controlled shock absorbers (optional) and a hidden, automatically extending roll-over bar. The level of standard equipment was also high, with electrically operated windows, mirrors, seats and convertible hood. The 2.8 engine featured dual overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder, the camshaft driven by duplex roller chain. The 2.8 L M104 was also used in the W202 C-Class model C280 and in the W140 S-Class model S280.The R129 came to public attention in 1991 when Diana, Princess of Wales, sold her Jaguar XJS to lease a J-registration, metallic-red 500SL, becoming the first member of the royal family to use a foreign car. This controversy sparked a media storm as it was questioned whether a member of British royalty should drive foreign cars. Media pressure eventually forced her to return the car to Mercedes-Benz in 1992 with whom it now resides in the Mercedes-Benz Museum. This 1993 Mercedes-Benz SL280 was supplied new by Riverdale of Brighton Ltd to Mr. A D Buringay-Prevett of West Sussex. He passed away in 2001 after only driving the car for 2,200miles in eight years; upon his death his family placed the car in storage where it remained until the end of 2012. This Mercedes SL280 is in as new condition, painted in Brilliant Silver with matching hardtop and black leather interior, with the optional rear seat and 'top of the range' Blaupunkt Radio system. This stunning Mercedes not only looks as if it has just been driven out of the showroom but also has the smell of a brand new car. It comes supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in September 2014, the original Bill of Sale from Riverdale, old MoT test certificates, the complete handbook and service book pack and all the keys that were supplied with the car. This is a unique opportunity to purchase what can only be described as a virtually brand new Mercedes-Benz SL at a fraction of its original cost.
