Beschreibung:

Just as it had in the preceding decade with the 4-cylinder CB750, Honda stunned the world again in the 1970s, introducing the "flat four" Gold Wing super-tourer and the outrageous, across-the-frame, 6-cylinder CBX1000. Although not the first six-cylinder motorcycle in modern times, that was Benelli's 750 Sei, it was a striking machine which Cycle Guide called "the Vincent Black Shadow of 1979." Launched in naked, twin-shock form in 1978, the CBX was revamped for 1981 gaining Pro-Link mono-shock rear suspension, a half fairing and ventilated front disc brakes. Soon factory touring accessories were made available taking away, perhaps, a little of the raw edge of the first machines. Weighing around 550lb and with 105hp on tap – six carburetors, 24-valves, twin cam, air cooled - the CBX was good for over 130mph and scorched through the standing quarter-mile in around 12 seconds. For most owners though, it was not the CBX's performance so much as its on-road presence that mattered. Even today, few bikes can match it for charisma, visual appeal and, above all, sound – reminiscent of Honda's multi-cylinder GP bikes of the 1960s. This example has a reported 17,050 miles on the odometer and features a list of custom features that provide comfortable riding but could easily be removed should the buyer wish to return it to a strictly original and stock specification, including a leather Corbin Gunfighter seat, 6-into-6 stainless exhaust system (the original was twin 3-into-1), an aluminum fork brace, billet aluminum motor mounts a factory rear-set foot pegs. The bike is reported to function well when last ridden, the buyer, however, should contemplate some re-commissioning.
