1972 MASERATI INDY 4,7L TYPE AM110 Equipée d'un rare toit ouvrant Châssis n° AM110/49/1586 A la fin des années 1960, Maserati avait confirmé son retour à la rentabilité et la famille des modèles à moteur V8, issu du 450 S de compétition, notamment le coupé quatre places Mexico et le coupé deux places, la Ghibli. Il manquait dans l'offre un coupé sport 2+2 capable de répondre à la Ferrari 365 GT. C'est ainsi que naquit l'Indy sur un empattement un peu plus long que celui de la Ghibli. Produite par Vignale sous la forme d'une monocoque et dotée d'une ligne générale proche de celle de la Ghibli, l'Indy offrait un habitacle plus large, plus haut et très lumineux. Les places arrière étaient toutefois mesurées, mais elles étaient utilisables en appoint. La porte de coffre intégrait la lunette arrière pour faciliter l'accès au coffre. La climatisation, les glaces teintées à commande électrique, la direction assistée et le volant réglable et un moteur souple soulignaient sa vocation de grande routière rapide. Proposée d'abord avec un V8 de 4,2 litres, elle reçut en 1970 en option le 4,7 litres de 290 ch (DIN), qui lui donna des performances pratiquement égales à celles de la Ghibli, puis sur demande, le 4,9 litres en 1973. Au total, Maserati produisit 1 136 Indy. La voiture présentée est une Indy 4,7 litres, construite en 1972, avec direction assistée et boîte manuelle à 5 rapports, air conditionné, toit ouvrant, vitres teintées, poste de radio Becker et tableau de bord dit America. D'origine suisse, carrosserie rouge avec intérieur en cuir beige, elle se présente en excellent état général accompagnée d'un titre de circulation belge. Maserati were back in the black by the end of the 1960s, helped by models equipped with the V8 engine derived from the 450 S racing car - notably the Mexico four-seater Coupé and Ghibli two-seater Coupé. What Maserati now needed was a 2+2 Sports Coupé capable of responding to the Ferrari 365 GT. Hence the Indy, which had a slightly longer wheelbase than the Ghibli. The Indy was produced by Vignale as a monocoque, with an overall design similar to the Ghibli but with a wider, higher and lighter interior. Back seats could be used as necessary. The boot door incorporated the rear window to facilitate access. Air-conditioning, electrically-controlled tinted windows, power steering, an adjustable steering-wheel and a smooth engine underlined its vocation as a large, fast road-car. It was first offered with a 4.2-litre V8; then, in 1970 (as an option), with a 4.7-litre engine yielding 290bhp (DIN), whose performances almost matched the Ghibli's; then (on request) with the 4.9-litre in 1973. Maserati produced 1,136 Indy's in all. Our car is an Indy 4.7 from 1972, with power steering, manual five-speed gear-box, air-conditioning, sun-roof (rare), tinted windows, Becker radio and 'America' dashboard. It is of Swiss origin, with red bodywork and beige leather interior, in excellent overall condition, and comes with Belgian registration papers.
