Beschreibung:

The Jaguar Mk.II was a medium size saloon built from 1959 to 1967 as a successor to the 2.4 and 3.4 models, manufactured between 1957 and 1959. The Mk.II was handsome, powerful and a good handling saloon which was offered with a choice of three six cylinder twin cam engines; 2.4 litre, 3.4 litre or 3.8 litre. After the appreciation of the MK.I, Jaguar's successor was well received making a good car even better. Similar in appearance, but with a bigger glass area, it boasted a wider track to improve road holding together with minor front suspension changes to reduce body roll and all-round disc rather than drum brakes. The 210bhp 3.4 litre engine variant proved to be the most popular, offering the best compromise between performance and economy. Naturally, the performance was excellent and the Mk.II has enjoyed great success on track and can still be a very competitive historic race car. Raced by all the top drivers of the day including Graham Hill, Roy Salvadori and Michael Parkes the Mk.II has scored victories throughout saloon car races in the sixties and was also raced across Europe in the Tour De France and Monte Carlo rally. The car gained a reputation as a capable 'getaway car' among the criminal underworld. It had seating for five adults and in 3.8 litre specification could outrun almost any other car on the road. Quite naturally, the Jaguar Mk.II also received acclaim amongst law enforcement forces too. The car on offer today was built in 1965 and is finished in black coachwork with complementing maroon leather interior. Over the last two years this Jaguar Mk.II has been the subject of a complete restoration and modernization which includes the body being repaired where necessary and then repainted, new Coombs rear wheel spats in steel fitted and all the chrome work re-plated. The interior of the car has been refurbished including the seats being restored with new door cards made and fitted, all the woodwork restored and re-veneered to the highest standard in Burr Walnut and retractable, colour coded front seat belts fitted. No expense has been spared to the mechanical restoration of this car. The engine has been fully rebuilt and bored out to 3.8 litres; the cylinder head has been skimmed and modified for unleaded fuel, the flywheel lightened and new clutch fitted. The original Moss gearbox and overdrive unit has been completely overhauled and a new prop shaft fitted leading to a high ratio rear differential. A new, balanced, stainless steel exhaust system has been made and fitted to a bespoke six branch exhaust manifold. An all new, full flow oil system and cooler has been fitted along with a new radiator and Kenlow fan. On the electrical side, the dynamo has been replaced with an alternator and the car has been fitted with electronic ignition. The front and rear suspension have been fully rebuilt with the dampers having been replaced with Koni shock absorbers. The braking system has also been up-rated with Coopercraft ventilated brake discs and calipers to both front and rear. It has been fitted with a hydraulic power assisted steering system and is riding on fifteen inch competition wire wheels fitted with Pirelli P4000 tyres. This Jaguar has been rebuilt to the highest of standards and so can be used for any situation from track days, to the daily commute, to concours events. It is supplied with a new MoT test certificate, a V5C registration document, photographs of the body restoration and a comprehensive file of invoices.
