'Aslam tells a story' is an intimate look at Zarina's concept of home. Central to most of Zarina's work is the notion of 'home' and the sense of displacement that often accompanies it. Having lived in various countries, including India, Pakistan, Thailand, Germany, and the United States, Hashmi's personal experiences of migration and cultural shifts resonate profoundly in her art. In 'Aslam tells a story,' Zarina is referring to her brother, Aslam, and this work comes from the series titled 'The House at Aligarh,' a portfolio of seven etchings, in which each etching refers to a member of her family. Made in 1990, it illustrates her deep connection to her family, which she still felt at the age of 53. There is poem accompanying the series, each line of which forms the title to one of the etchings in the series;
