WWII: Exceptional collection of Third Reich memorabilia removed from Adolf Hitler's desk in the Reich Chancellery together with an impressive section of marble from the desk itself. The lot includes the section of marble approx. 3ins. a Solingen paper knife taking the form of a Luftwaffe dagger and a 25 year faithful service medal in gold. They were obtained by Wing Commander Ronald Mason when a young Lieutenant in Berlin at the end of the war with the help of a German civilian who worked in Hitler's office. They are sold alongside pictures of Wing Commander Mason in Berlin, and Hitler's desk. Also included is a copy of an article in The Daily Telegraph documenting the story of the items and items from Wing Commander Mason uniform including his shoulder insignia and ID tag. An exceptional rare collection of WWII memorabilia.
