(Planche 74 avec cassure dans l'image sans perte, quelques reports.) Demi-basane rouge maroquinée de l'éditeur (dos et mors restaurés de 6 volumes avec leurs gardes renouvelées). G. Warnicke, G. Murray et B. Tanner d'après les dessins de Alexander Wilson; le coloriage fut exécuté par A. Rider. "The life-work of 'The Father of American Ornithologie', of which Coues wrote, 'Science would lose little, but, on the contrary, would gain much, if every scrap of pre-Wilsonian writing about United States birds could be anihilated'" (Zimmer). "There probably has never been an American treatise on zoology so thoroughly exploited and out of which so many composite works have been fashioned... as Wilson's Ornithology .
