Österreichisch-französischer Maler des 20. Jahrhunderts. Stammte aus einer jüdischen Familie und begann 1911 an der Akademie in Wien Malerei zu studieren. Ging 1912 nach Paris an die Academie de la Grande Chaumière. Bekanntschaft mit der Malerin Claire Bertrand, Heirat vor Beginn des Ersten Weltkrieges. Während des Krieges interniert und gegen Kriegsende wieder entlassen. 1921 erster Aufenthalt in Südfrankreich, Wandlung seines künstlerischen Schaffens unter dem Eindruck des südlichen Lichts. Litt immer wieder unter gesundheitlichen Problemen, Aufenthalte im Luftkurort Dieulefît. Umzug nach La Valette- du-Var in der Nähe von Toulon. Mitglied der Societé Nationale des Beaux Arts, stellte im Salon d’Automnes in Paris aus, auch in der Galerie Durand-Ruel und im Museum in Toulon. Pflegte in Paris Kontakte zu Josef Floch, Viktor Tischler, Georg Merkel und Walter Bondy. Während des Zweiten Weltkrieges Rückzug nach Dieulefît, signierte seine Werke mit dem Pseudonym Villiers. Ab 1951 auch Reisen nach Ibiza, lebte abwechselnd in Paris und in der Provence. Nach dem Tod seiner Frau 1969 Rückkehr nach Paris. Schuf v. a. Ölbilder und Aquarelle mit Landschaften und Stadtansichten, geprägt von der Natur und dem Licht Südfrankreichs.

Austro-French painter of the 20th century. Came from a Jewish family and began studying painting at the Academy in Vienna in 1911. Went to Paris in 1912 to the Academie de la Grande Chaumière. Acquaintance with the painter Claire Bertrand, marriage before the start of the First World War. Interned during the war and released towards the end of the war.
