Provenance : Wilfred Merton (binding and binding). Sale catalogue of the "handsome books and manuscripts collected by the Rev. Theodore Williams (d. 1827), mainly consisting of biblical texts, books printed on vellum and volumes printed on large or largest paper. Nearly all were bound in blue or green morocco with the collector's crest, showing his initials T.W. in a small oval. Among the manuscripts were the gospels of Mathilda of Tuscany, which subsequently belonged to Sir Thomas Phillipps and are now in the Pierpont Morgan Library" (De Ricci).
