At the age of 56 Quaife was asked to retire by the Warwickshire committee. Quaife requested a benefit match and played in the match v Derbyshire, his only first-class match in 1928, in which he scored 115 runs and Parsons 114 in Warwickshire's 564-7 declared, their highest single innings total of the season
