Title: When God Laughs and Other Stories Author: London, Jack Place: New York Publisher: Macmillan Date: 1911 Description: ix, [1], 319, [1] + [4] ad pp. Illustrated with frontispiece and 5 plates. Olive green cloth decorated in red and light green, lettered in gilt. First Edition. Presentation copy inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper: "Dear Carl & Lora, How do you like 'A Piece of Steak'? Please do tell me. Jack London, Glen Ellen, Calif., Feb. 16, 1911." Carlton Bierce was Ambrose Bierce nephew - he and his wife Lora were members of Jack London's circle. Lot Amendments Condition: A little rubbing to spine ends and corners; hinge cracked before frontispiece, Jack London sticker on back of free endpaper, else very good. Item number: 232363
