Published by John Carbutt, Chicago, from his series "Views of the Rocky Mountains and Vicinity" this view was probably photographed by his assistant, T.J. Hines. It is titled on the bottom edge of the recto "John Carbutt & Friends on Meridian 105 in 1866" during his documentation of the "Union Pacific Railroad's Excursion to the 100th Meridian." He is seated at right plus his equipment and photo wagon are clearly seen in the encampment. Burchard loaned this view to illustrate William Brey's article on the Excursion and it was used as the cover photo for the May-June 1980 issue of "Stereo World" magazine. Salmon mount. Provenance: The Ed Burchard Stereoview Collection Condition: Overall bright and clear with just a mild hint of dust soil. On verso is the "Ed. Burchard Collection" imprint plus his penned notation "Ed Burchard Collection, 2734 Ridge Ave., Evanston, Ill."
