Philadelphia: Thomas Hunter, 1876. Oblong 4 o. 52 tinted lithographed plates. Contemporary half calf (rebacked). The deluxe issue of Wesctott's important Centennial Portfolio , on large-paper and without the German, Spanish and French titles beneath the images (see following lots). George Tatum refers to this book as "the best known and most useful" account of the Centennial Exposition. The plates, all tinted lithographs, show the buildings of the exhibition. "Has been called the best known and most useful of the books describing the fair" -- Hitchcock 1365.
