Busts of Elisabeth Kaiserin von Österreich and Franz Josef Kaiser von Österreich. 1857. 2 large-format salt prints with cut corners. Each circa 32,5 x 26,8 cm. Each mounted to original board (slightly buckled in edges, slightly soiled) with gilt ornamental frame outline, title and Beilage zu M. Weingartshofers Photographischen Album, VI Heft am 15. December 1857 printed below the image on the mount. Mathias Weingartshofer was an optician, photographer, publisher and author. In 1852 he founded his company in Vienna and as of 1854 manufactured lenses. As of 1856 his studio was listed in Vienna. Between 1857-1859 he published the magazine ‘Fotografisches Album‘ which was the first photographic magazine published in Vienna. Circa 1870 the studio was listed as ‘M.E. Weingartshofer & Söhne‘ in Mödling, and circa 1885 ‘M. Weingartshofer Söhne‘. – Franz Josef print with larger light spot lower left, otherwise strong prints in very good condition. With: Bust of Erzherzog Carl von Österreich . Large-format salt print. 1857. - Family portrait by A. Chlaponine, Odessa . Late1850s. Salt print with cut corners. 32 x 41,5 cm. Photographer's blindtsamp in lower left corner. Mounted to board (soiled). - Some light retouched spots, otherwise in very good condition.
