Lot of 4. Rodino, Peter W. Jr. (1909-2005). Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee (1973-1989). TNS, 1 p., "Congress of the United States House of Representatives Memorandum." March 4, 1974. Addressed to Mr. Payne. Rodino says that he is happy to provide his autograph for Payne's collection. Rodino, Peter W. Jr. (1909-2005). Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee (1973-1989). DS, 1 p., "93rd Congress 1st Session H.Res. 629." October 23, 1973. The resolution notes the investigation of President Richard Nixon concerning the Watergate Scandal and his impeachment. Rodino was chair of the House Judiciary Committee and oversaw the impeachment hearings that led to Nixon's resignation as president. Cox, Archibald (1912-2014). U.S. Solicitor General (1961-1965) and special prosecutor for the Watergate scandal. ALS, 2 p, "Archibald Cox 78 Condon Point Road Brooksvile, ME 04617." October 15, 2001. Addressed to Mr. VanBuskirk, a school teacher. In part, Cox writes, You ask for a word about the Watergate affair. My duty was to investigate whether President Nixon...had committed criminal offenses while in office...we obtained a subpoena...directing President Nixon to produce for the grand jury the so-called Watergate tapes. He refused to comply and directed me not to seek evidence from the White House, This led to the Watergate crisis...even the highest officials must be subject to law. Because President Nixon was violating that constitutional principle, I refused to follow his instructions...Then he fired me. Happily the people rose up...forced him to comply with the subpoena. This--I think-- is the historic significance of Watergate" the American people reaffirmed the principle that even the highest official must obey the law.... Reproduction of the U.S. Constitution Articles IV, V, VI, VII, signed by 6 of the Investigating Committee during the Watergate scandal including: Sam Ervin, Jr.,a U.S. Senator from North Carolina; Herman Talmadge, Senator from Georgia; Joseph Montoya, Senator for New Mexico; and others. Measures 9.5 x 13.5 in. (sight) an 16 x 20 in. with its mat. Condition: All are in good condition with no toning, some with typical folds.
