Wagner, Richard AUTOGRAPH SKETCH-LEAF CONTAINING DRAFTS AND IDEAS FOR “SIEGFRIED” AND “SIEGFRIEDS TOD”, THE FIRST VERSION OF “GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG”, COMPRISING: 1.The first sketches for the prelude to Siegfried, Act II, marked “Fafner’s Ruhe”, dated “20 Mai [18]57”, a draft of over 100 bars, notated in pencil, 15 staves, on systems of two and three staves, with many alterations, corrections, revisions and deletions, virtually a complete draft, containing many famous and familiar leitmotifs, including those representing the Curse, the Dragon and Alberich 2. Two sketches for Siegfrieds Tod/Götterdämmerung: 1. The opening of the Norn’s scene in the Prologue: “Welch Licht leuchtet dort” and 2 a draft of the passage “An der Weltesche wob ich einst…das sang ich heil’gen Sinn”, sung by the First Norn, in the Prologue, with many corrections and alterations 2 pages, oblong 8vo (17.5x 25.5cm), cut from a larger sheet, traces of mount, 1857
