Vyazemsky, Prince Pyotr. AUTOGRAPH LETTER SIGNED ("VYAZEMSKY"), TO ALEXANDRA ANDREYEVNA VOYEYKOVA, IN RUSSIAN, INCLUDING SOME VERSES ADDRESSED TO HER IN FRENCH a remarkable and amusing letter, sent from Venice, in which the poet addresses Voyeykova as a proud and snooty lady, pointing out that he has sent her various poems that have been judged worthy of translation and publication in the papers ("even in your Times"), but that he has received from her neither a greeting nor acknowledgement, averring that she has no grounds for such pride and that he would not swap his solitary gondola for her entire fleet of ships; he adds some lines of ironical verse in French, asking her not to conclude that "...Moi qui Vous aime tendrement Je n'écris que pour Vous le dire... [but rather that...] Vous m'écrivez, que pour écrire, C'est pour Vous un amusement..." 3 pages, 8vo (c.20.5 x 13.2cms), "Bath" paper, written in dark blue ink, Venice, 4/16 September 1853, two small holes, not affecting the text
