The Fugger Binder was active in Venice from about the 1530's and was responsible for two major commissions, one for Cardinal Granvelle and the other for Johann Jakob Fugger. Four other books from this shop with the A.A. initials are known, and Hobson tentatively identifies the owner as Arnoldus Arlenius of s'Hertogenbosch. Arlenius served as librarian to the Spanish ambassador, Diego Hurtado de Mendoza. Hobson, Renaissance Book Collecting , app. 8, 88. Adams V-956.
