Very Fine and Rare Carved and Figured Maple Flintlock Kentucky Rifle, Peter Berry (d. 1836), DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pennsylvania, circa 1820 Top of barrel inscribed Pe. Berry. The rifle is relief carved to the rear of the cheekpiece with C-scrolls that extend under and forward of the cheek piece. The gun is carved to the rear of the tang, to the rear of the ramrod pipe and forward of the trigger guard. Molded lines run from the lock and sideplate to the rear ramrod pipe. Overall length 56 in.; Barrel Length 40 1/2 in.
