The paintings are included in the catalogue of his personal collection (Bai Yun Tang Cang Hua). In keeping with the traditional method of art education, Huang Junbi copied leaves from this album in order to understand fully the styles of ancient masters-an example is recorded in The Paintings of Huang Chun-pi (Taipei: Art Book Co., Ltd, 1987, nos. 141 and 142). These images also served as a source of inspiration for the artist. For example, in a painting by Huang made in 1954, he incorporated elements of the Song painting of two birds sleeping on a branch, although in his own interpretation the birds are awake and he added a branch of red leaves (Huang Guangnan, Zheng Dunyin, Wang Sufeng, The Style and Influence of Huang Junbi's Paintings (Taipei: Taipei City Museum, 1987, pl. 30).
