Many of the prints are blind stamped "Photograph by Carl Van Vechten" and/or annotated in pencil on the reverse. An intimate collection of images by the New York photographer, writer and promoter of the Harlem Renaissance. Saul Mauriber was Van Vechten's longtime studio assistant, lover, and the executor of his estate.
