The dials of these watches are enamelled with the Continents and Seas as represented in Mercator's original maps. The highly complex Mercator movements and dials were created in collaboration with the Belgian enamellers Lucie and Jean Genbrugge and Vacheron Constantin, a Swiss watch maker with a heritage dating back to the mid 18th century. The Mercator range took the design inspiration for its cases from the Vacheron Constantin archives of the 1940s.
