Beschreibung:

30.5" single-edged spear point blade. 21.25" long by 0.5" wide stopped fuller and 14" narrow fuller near spine. Brass guard and hilt with shagreen grip wrap with twisted wire. Obverse ricasso etched: WARRANTED TO CUT / WROUGHT-IRON / TIFFANY & Co / NEW YORK. Blade etched with panoplies of arms, foliate scrolls and splays, eagles and a ribbon with E PLURIBUS UNUM on the obverse and US on the reverse. Leather scabbard with brass mounts. Condition: Good to very good overall. The blade retains traces of the original bright polish, but has darkened with age and shows moderate staining and oxidation over most of its surfaces. The etching remains mostly visible and marks are legible and traces of the frosting remain. Hilt has a medium golden patina and the wrap remains in very nice shape, retaining the wire with only minimal wear. The leather scabbard shows light to moderate wear, minor finish loss and scuffing. It remains mostly solid and the brass mounts have a nice, uncleaned patina. Throat is loose and the sword does not fit completely into the scabbard, leaving about 1/2" of the blade proud of the throat.
