Transformed over the millennia into a fairly clear rust-colored piece of Burmite amber, it has been fashioned into a cabochon. The fascinating larva displays a very large head, large mandibles with sharp pincers and a very long neck. The adult insect is known as the antlion, which is a nocturnal flying insect resembling a damselfly or a dragonfly. The antlion larvae are fierce predators, which even dig pits to trap ants and other walking insects. Offered in an 8 x 6-inch Riker mount accompanied by an enlarged photo of the Nemopterlidae larva.
