Beschreibung:

Unsigned Czechoslovakian Art Deco Simulated Jade, Silver Metal and Marcasite Mounted Glass Nude Dauber Perfume Bottle Attributed to Heinrich Hoffmann circa 1925 Of flattened form, in smokey gray glass, decorated in the chinoiserie style with pale turquoise pressed glass segments with peaches and blossoms in relief, the molded stopper surmounted by a Medusa mask button finial, on four faux rock crystal and colorless glass feet with stylized cloud motifs, the dauber in frosted colorless glass. Height 7 7/8 inches. Rago Arts and Auction Center, Lambertville, New Jersey sold an identical version of this perfume bottle Lalique Perfume Auction, November 12, 2005, Doyle New York sold an identical version of this perfume bottle without the figural dauber Belle Epoque, February 8, 2006, C
Bottle: The glass body appears to be in generally good condition; no internal cloudiness; no apparent hairline cracks, chips, fractures, etc.; the interior side of the mouth is frosted and the top rim is ground flat and polished, presumably, as made by the factory; there are three pinhead size nicks to this top rim edge, which are not of any great consequence; all of the turquoise pressed glass panels along the bottom edge are present, however, one of the longer segments is cracked; all four of the glass feet are present and appear to be original; there is a dulling to the metal mount; there are some losses to marcasite decoration in the small square metal panels around the mouth; there is some beveling to the interior rim edge along the mouth with one area of the rim now appearing slight out-of-round Stopper: two of the turquoise pressed glass segments are now missing; the Medusa glass button finial appears to be in good condition; however, it was not removed from its mount for an examination; there are losses to the decorative inset marcasite 'jewels' in the panels in between the panels in between the turquoise segments; there are some traces of gold paint or enamel around the lower section of the finial (rose border section) which suggests this section may originally have been gold painted; the figural dauber appears to be in good condition, however, there is a horizontal line that goes fully around the circumference of the figures ankle area; accordingly, there may have been a professional restoration to the foot area, however, circular stress line appears to end in a coil, suggesting there is an internal horizontal stress crack to this rather than a clean break and early repair
