Second edition (stated), with the tailpiece at 10F reading "Carolus Jephson imprim." Two volumes, period speckled calf, all edges sprinkled red. 15 3/4 x 9 5/8 inches (39.5 x 24.5 cm); folding frontispiece, 20 plates, plus the folding letterpress Caslon type specimen. Neatly rebacked retaining the original labels, overall generally a clean, sound set. 19th century inscription on front pastedown of the first volume, armorial bookplates. Of Caslon's specimens. this is preceded only by the 1734 broadside specimen, with which this is essentially identical (it even bears the 1734 date at lower right, indicating perhaps that the type was held in forme).
