London: Printed by J. Kay, [1815]. Smith, Charles Hamilton Selections of the Ancient Costume of Great Britain & Ireland from the Seventh to the Sixteenth Century... With pictorial title & 55 (of 60) hand-colored engraved plates. London: Printed by William Bulmer and Co., 1814 Together, two works bound together. (folio) 36x25 cm. (14¼x9¾"), old half calf & cloth, rebacked with later calf, spine gilt, marbled endpapers, all edges gilt. Captivating and well-executed hand-colored plates of British peoples and their dress through the ages. The first work lacks the added title and three plates; the second work lacks five plates. Each of the plates with old inkstamp on verso of the Literary Institution. Lot Amendments Condition: Wear to extremities, spine faded; very good or better internally. Item number: 274378
