TWO BROWN LACQUER FOLIATE-RIM DISHES SONG DYNASTY (960-1279) Each dish is applied to the interior and exterior with darkish brown lacquer, with angular sides supported on a short circular foot. The mouth rim is gently indented to form six lobes, bound with a thin copper band. The cavetto has six vertical copper borders to separate the lobes. Two different collectors' seals are written in red on the bases of the dishes. 6 7/8 in. (17.5 cm.) diam., Japanese wood boxes (2)
