Her method of obtaining the autographs was to write a letter of appreciation, often containing her bookplate and explaining the scope of her collection. In many cases she struck up friendships with the authors which lasted for many years, the collection containing many multiple letters from authors such as Victor Bridges, Leslie Charteris, Victor Canning, Taprell Dorling, Joseph Jefferson Farjeon, Michael Hastings, Eliot Crawshay and others.
