Alfred David Lenz (1872-1926) was born in Wisconsin, and ventured to New York and Paris to study in art. A few of his casts were bought by the French Government and placed in the Luxemburg. Examples of his works are in the Metropolitan Museum of Arts and many other museums and private collections. He died in 1926 at Havana, Cuba where he had gone to regain his health. His works occasionally appear at auction. The only copy of this catalogue listed in OCLC/WorldCat is at the University of California Santa Barbara.
