Beschreibung:

TOMB OF TERROR No. 6 Author: Place: Publisher: Harvey Date: December, 1952 Description: VF- (7.5). Conservatively graded. A nice, clean copy with a tiny touch of wear to foot of spine and slight staple pull; low-gloss cover. Cream to off-white pages. Definitely a good mag to slab. Cover by Lee Elias. Stories and art by Abe Simon, Moe Marcus, Rudy Palais and Joe Certa. Fanged brute throttles blonde ("Carl! Help! AIIIEEE... No... AGGGRRAA!"); man melts into a puddle of goo. Ad seems to offer paragliding rig for 98¢ ("Now Fly Like A Bird! With Wings Made From The Original Sketch of Leonardo Da Vinci's Flying Wings!"). Small print reveals that all you get is a book of instructions and a list of materials to build your own. For many kids, the false promises in comic book ads were their introduction to the sham at the heart of the adult world. See also: "12 Comic Book Ads That Taught Us To Be Cynical," Cracked.com, May 25, 2008 ("Kids are stupid. It's well known, and there is a whole industry that thrives on it. This is why as kids, every so often we'd come across an ad in a comic book for something we knew was too good to be true. But still, we'd put money in an envelope and four to six weeks later, get something amazing that would make the rest of our lives whole lot easier. That thing? Disappointment.")
