Beschreibung:

Tom Zachary's 1924 World Series Washington Senators Vs. New York Giants Panoramic Photo Before the 1924 season, Walter Johnson announced that he would be winding down after seventeen years as the major league's premier pitcher. At age 37 "The Big Train's" engine was finally slowing. To this day, the seven-game World Series victory by Johnson's Senators over the powerhouse New York Giants in 1924 represents the pinnacle of baseball in the Capital City. This panoramic photo, commemorating the Senators first and only World Championship, features both teams lined up, shoulder to shoulder, on the field at Griffith Stadium prior to battle. President Calvin Coolidge is pictured in the front row "President's Box", flanked by managers Harris and McGraw. Eager faces appear in great detail throughout the packed house. The photo is believed to be the personal copy of Senators pitcher Tom Zachary based on the appearance of his name penciled on back of the period frame. The photo has some damage at the edges, most significant at the top, including areas of missing paper. The central image is largely unaffected by the peripheral damage, with the exception of a few small holes and surrounding surface wear. The fine quality and clarity of the image makes this a prime candidate for professional restoration. Measures 42" by 10". Framed.
