Beschreibung:

Tiffany Studios Gilt-Bronze and Leaded Favrile Glass Jonquil-Daffodil Lamp First quarter of the 20th century The dome-shape shade divided into an upper section comprising sixteen downturned trumpet narcissi blossoms, in mottled yellow and creamy white colored glass, surrounded by mottled blue and green colored stems against a mottled blue, green and white ground, separating the lower section by a mottled green and blue geometric band, the lower section decorated with three undulating rows comprising forty-eight jonquil blossoms, with opalescent and creamy white colored petals and yellow orange centers, continuing to a mottled green and blue geometric border; the Renaissance style base, in the Four Virtues pattern, with four light sockets and a tapering square columnar standard depicting four saintly women on either side above the inscriptions Veridas, Charitas, Fides and Puritas, shade tagged TIFFANY STUDIOS NEW YORK 1917, base stamped TIFFANY STUDIOS NEW YORK 577, pierced metal cap. Height overall 25 inches, height of shade 7 7/8 inches, diameter 20 1/4 inches. See Dr. Egon Neustadt, The Lamps of Tiffany, p. 143 for an illustration of this model shade and p. 71 for an illustration of this model base.
the shade appears to be in good condition; this specialist could only detect one of the small green glass geometric segments at the lower border that had a hairline crack; two of the four light light socket s are modern replacements and the other two sockets are older, however, they too might be replacements: the sockets do not have the typical black Bryant or GE butterfly-shaped on-off switches, instead each has a pull chain; there is expected wear to the gilding on the lamp base and also the pierced metal cap; one of the light sockets has a jammed pull chain and cannot be illuminated
