Tiffany & Co. An 18K gold thin open face watch with unusual patent movement Made by Edouard Koehn Sr., Geneva Date: Circa 1903 Movement: With patent manual winding and setting mechanism, single shaped train bridge jeweled through the center, free standing going barrel with visible stop work, counterpoised lever escapement, bimetallic balance, overcoiled spring, No. 80112 Dial: White enamel, minute ring, Arabic chapters, subsidiary seconds, blued hands Case: Plain polished, engraved with a crest, cuvette, No. 80112 Signed: By Tiffany on case, dial and movement Size: 46mm Fußnoten Edouard Koehn (1839 – 1908) joined the firm of Patek Philippe in 1861. By 1876, he had become one of the five directors of the company. He retired in 1891 to produce fine precision and complicated watches of his own design. He specialized in thin dress watches which he supplied to American jewelers, notably Tiffany. The present watch is based on US patent 731789 of 1903 which incorporated a full size escapement and powerful spring barrel in a particularly thin configuration.
