TURKEY, IRAN AND INDIA, 18TH-19TH CENTURY
THREE RELIGIOUS MANUSCRIPTS TURKEY, IRAN AND INDIA, 18TH-19TH CENTURY Comprising a Zand commentary on the Qur'an and prayers, signed Jamal al-Din al-Marjan al-Islami and dated beginning of the first day of the third decade of Sha'ban AH 1088, Persian and Arabic manuscript on gold-speckled paper, each folio with 14ll. of black naskh script between gold and polychrome rules, illuminated opening bifolio remargined, in Zand lacquered binding, an Ottoman copy of a work by Qadi Ayyad bin Musa (d. 1149 AD), signed Muhammad bin 'Umar Kashif and dated AH 1264, Arabic manuscript on paper, each folio with 19ll. of black naskh script between red and black-ruled gold frame, opening bifolio with illuminated headpiece, in gilt and stamped brown morocco, and a copy of Kitab al-hidaya' min 'ilm al-fara'id al-masa'il , possibly Kharidat fi 'ilm al-fara'id , a work on kinship and inheritance, signed Muhammad Hassan (?) and dated AH 1202 (?), Arabic manuscript, probably Indian, each folio with 22ll. of black naskh script between polychrome rules, with illuminated headpiece, in black morocco binding Folio 6 7/8 x 4¼in. (17.3 x 10.5cm.); 9 1/8 x 5½in. (23.2 x 14.2cm.) illustrated; 13 3/8 x 8¼in. (34 x 21cm.) (3)
