Three: Police Constable M. Todd Defence and War Medals 1939-45; Police Long Service Medal, E.II.R. (Const. Mervyn Todd) mounted as worn, good very fine Imperial Service Medal (2), G.V.R., 1st issue, star shaped (George H. Carter); another, G.VI.R., 1st issue (Percival James Search.), this in card box of issue; Army L.S. & G.C., E.VII.R. (336 S.Q.M. Sjt: F. W. Todd. A.P.C.); Special Constabulary Long Service Medal, G.V.R., 1 clasp, The Great War 1914-18 (Group Ldr. William H. Todd); London Fire Brigade Good Service Medal (Fireman F. N. Todd) generally nearly extremely fine (8) £100-140 Footnote I.S.M. London Gazette 9 January 1942 Search, Percival James, Skilled Workman, Class I, Oxford Telephone Area, High Wycombe. Frederick William Todd was born in London in 1868 and attested for the East Yorkshire Regiment at Beverley, Yorkshire, on 9 August 1886, having previously served in the 1st West Yorkshire Rifle Volunteers. He transferred to the West Yorkshire Regiment on 11 October 1886, and was promoted Corporal on 1 December 1889, and Sergeant on 25 June 1891. Appointed a probationary Staff Clerk at the Army Pay Department on the same date, he formally transferred to the Army Pay Corps on 1 April 1893, and was advanced to Staff Quartermaster Sergeant on 1 July 1901. Awarded his Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal per Army Order 68 of April 1905, together with a gratuity of £5, he was promoted to Staff Sergeant Major on 30 June 1906, before being discharged on 8 August 1911, after 25 years’ service. He died in Carlisle in May 1946.
