Beschreibung:

With the immense success of the XK-series sports cars of the immediate post-war period, ranging from the XK120, 140 and 150 to the Le Mans winning ‘C’ and ‘D’-Types, Jaguar embarked on a new generation of smaller unitary-construction saloons in 1956. The first 2.4-liter Mark I model of that year was joined by the 3.4-liter car in 1957 and later by the top-of-the-range 3.8-liter engine which became an option in the Mark II. This engine was ultimately developed into the 4.2-liter unit offered in the super luxury Mark X model in 1964. The Mark X was launched in October 1961 and was the biggest and most luxurious Jaguar to date. For the first time on a Jaguar saloon there was independent rear suspension, a feature borrowed from the newly introduced E-Type sports model. During its production run the Mark X benefited from enhancements to its cooling system, heating and air conditioning and an all-synchromesh gearbox became a feature. Finished in brilliant silver with black leather and wide white wall tires, Sam acquired this Mark X in August 2006. It was originally delivered new the British Motor Car Distributors in San Francisco in August 1966 and then shipped directly to Seattle for its first owner. It remained in Seattle until Sam acquired, having only changed hands once in between. Kept in lovely, original condition, it has been subject only to a high quality repaint and an engine rebuild in 1992—during which the mechanics of the car, including the cooling and braking systems, exhaust, ignition and instruments were either rebuilt or replaced. A fantastic opportunity to acquire a largely original, three owner from new, West Coast Jaguar saloon with all the luxury appointments. Without reserve
