Autograph letter signed ('H.L.T.') to an unidentified recipient [Charles Burney], Brighthelmstone [i.e. Brighton], 'Monday, no Tuesday' (dated '[17]79' in another hand), 2 pages, 4to (two short splits, 20mm and 15mm, at horizontal centre fold; integral address leaf apparently torn away).

Autograph letter signed ('H.L.T.') to an unidentified recipient [Charles Burney], Brighthelmstone [i.e. Brighton], 'Monday, no Tuesday' (dated '[17]79' in another hand), 2 pages, 4to (two short splits, 20mm and 15mm, at horizontal centre fold; integral address leaf apparently torn away). THE SILLINESS OF 'WISE MEN': 'so you could hardly believe that a wise Man should ever be silly -- Lord help your Head! why nobody can be as silly as a wise Man can, when he sets his Wit to it '; complaining too of 'a sort of epidemic Cold' which has affected everyone but 'my Master' [Thrale]; her own constitution however is 'an admirable one, Anxiety is the only thing that will hurt it, & I can bear a great deal of that ; only it impedes Digestion of late in a way it never used to do', ending with a reference to Thrale's financial worries.
