THEODOR FRIEDRICH LUDWIG NEES VON ESENBECK (1787-1837) and WILHELM SINNING (1792-1874) Sammlung schönblühender Gewächse für Blumen- und Gartenfreunde . Dusseldorf: Arnz & Co., 1831. Atlas volume only, 2° (465 x 291mm). Lithographic title and 100 hand-coloured lithographic plates by Henry, Hohe and Wild. (Title torn and repaired on verso, most plates lightly and evenly browned, dense spotting to about 20 plates, some lighter spotting elsewhere, text lacking.) Modern half faux? leather, label to spine, marbled boards. 'A FINE WORK OF GOOD LITHOGRAPHS WELL-COLOURED' (Dunthorne). One of the rarer nineteenth century flower books. Nees von Esenbeck was Director of the Botanic Garden at Bonn, Sinning its head-gardener, and their work is a catalogue of the exotics growing there, including camellias, magnolia and banksias.
