Group of Nine to Admiral of the Fleet Sir Houston Stewart, Royal Navy, a Captain in the St. Jean D'Acre and Syrian Operations of 1840, Onetime Second-in-Command of Naval Forces Off Sebastopol and Latterly a Lord of the Admiralty (a) The Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Knight Grand Cross (G.C.B), Military Divison, breast Star, silver, with gold and enamel centre (b) Naval General Service 1793-1840, one clasp, Syria (Captain, R.N.), partially re-engraved, onetime glazed, set within silver circular frame, this privately engraved, 'Houston Stewart' (c) Crimea, one clasp, Sebastopol (Houston Stewart), engraved naming, onetime glazed, set within silver circular frame, this also privately engraved, 'Houston Stewart' (d) France, Legion of Honour, Second Empire, Grand Officer's set of insignia, comprising breast Badge, gold and enamel; breast Star, by Lemoine, Paris, silver (e) Turkey, Order of the Medjidjie, Grand Cross set of insignia, comprising sash Badge, silver, with gold and enamel centre; breast Star, large 1st type, silver, with gold and enamel centre (f) Turkey, Order of Nichan Iftikhar (a.k.a. Order of Glory), paste-set Badge, the central gold medallion bearing the togra of Mahmud II, the whole surrounded by elaborate floral sprays, gold back-plate with six rivets, 46mm. overall height, excluding the paste set suspension loop (g) Turkey, St. Jean D'Acre 1840, gold, set within circular gold glazed frame, this privately engraved, 'Houston Stewart', Captain, R.N.', this last pierced at 12 o'clock, generally very fine excepting wear from circular mounts (9)
