THE PROPERTY OF A GENTLEMAN A George III Silver Teapot and Stand in Wooden Carrying Case maker's mark Samuel Hennell 1813 The stand oval and on four scrolled paw feet, with cast border of gadrooning between shells and acanthus leaf, the teapot of oval bombe form and with confroming cast border, with angular bracket handle and hinged domed cover with mushroom finial, the stand and teapot engraved with a crest and motto, in original wooden carrying case with brass name-plate inscribed 'Lieu. Col. Moubray'; also a miniature of Laura Moubray in a white dress and red shawl, her dark hair garlanded with flowers, oval 3in. (7.7cm) , glazed with gilt mount and suspension hoop, the reverse engraved 'Laura Moubray Malta 1813' 6½in. (16cm.) high Marked to reverse of stand and base of teapot, the teapot struck with further mark of capital 'M', possibly a Maltese import mark 34oz. The crest and motto are those of Moubray of Scotland. A portrait of Laura Moubray by Constable was sold at Christie's London
