Garrett," no label on the reverse but marked in white pencil "Man in the Mirror" in block letters by Michael Jackson WIth a copy of the Dangerous 93 Tour itinerary, a polaroid of Saidah Garrett, Quincy Jones, and another person, and a reproduction photo of Garrett and Michael Jackson Siedeh Garrett is an internationally known singer and songwriter and the co-author of Michael Jackson's anthem to progress, "Man in the Mirror." She also sang the duet "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" with Jackson. A protege of Quincy Jones, she was partnered with superproducer Glen Ballard to write a song for Jackson's 1987 album, Bad. Ballard wrote the melody and Garrett came up with the celebrated lyrics announcing the singer's intention to make a change for the better. The present cassette is the copy given to Jackson for review, and contains his markings "Man in the Mirror" on the reverse. Reportedly, Jackson was underwhelmed by the demo, telling Quincy Jones that he was not "hearing it." Jones pushed back, Jackson gave the song another listen, and the rest is pop history. The present cassette was returned to Siedeh Garrett by Jones, who gifted it to the present owner.
