The first separate Tonson edition of this play, first attributed to Shakespeare in an edition published 1619, about John Oldcastle, a soldier and Lollard dissenter who was hanged and burned for heresy in 1417, earning himself a place in the Foxe's Book of Martyrs. Some have presumed Oldcastle to the the model for Falstaff. Lot Amendments Condition: A little rubbing to spine ends; paper a bit darkened, contents set on stubs when rebound, overall very good.
