In 1746, spectacular festivities were held in The Hague to celebrate the coronation of FRANCIS I (1708-1765), Holy Roman Emperor and Grand Duke of Tuscany, who had been elected to the Empire on 13 September 1745. The plates illustrate the fireworks displays, illuminations, and decorations for the ball held by Baron de Reischach on 19 January 1746 at the Hotel du Prince Maurice.
