The following six lots were commissioned by Archbishop John Ryder and have descended in the vendor's family to date. John Ryder was the youngest son of a non-conformist family from Lincolnshire. Endlessly flexible, they managed to get themselves ennobled and embraced the established church. He lived in considerable style in Dublin and married his family into the landed gentry.
