Beschreibung:

The following lot "When The Cup Runneth Over" (49 inches x 108 inches) is an image taken by famous Norwegian photographer, Mikkel McAlinden (born 1963), in 2006/2007. The central motif are the remains of a fine wine dinner in Oslo, hosted by the owner of this very fine cellar, Mr. Christen Sveaas. The image is a composite of many pictures. The film used was Kodak 100 G (4"x5"). The image is a c-print, mounted on aluminium and laminated. The frame is oak. A detailed description of a similar Oslo dinner which took place on August 16th, 1996, also hosted by Mr. Sveaas and attended by Michael Broadbent features here, taken from Decanter Magazine, published in July, 1996. In the spirit of continuation, the winning bidder will also receive an invitation to dine with up to 7 guests, friends or colleagues in the Christie's Directors Boardroom in London to be co-hosted by Michael Broadbent and Christen Sveaas - a range of wines to accompany the dinner will be selected from both the privates reserves of Christie's and those of Mr Sveaas. This dinner will be prepared by Mr. Eyvind Hellstrom, chef at Mr. Christen Sveaas' restaurant, Bagatelle in Oslo. This to be arranged at a mutually agreeable date within 12 months of this sale. The winning bidder will also receive a global subscription to all Christie's wine catalogues including sales in Los Angeles, New York, London, Geneva, Paris, Beaune and Amsterdam and a personally signed copy of Michael Broadbent's Great Vintage Wine Book.
