Beschreibung:

Off test on 31st July 1934, ‘GYD27’ was bodied as a standard limousine by Barker & Co - one of the finest of all British coachbuilders and a firm associated with Rolls-Royce from the latter's earliest days - before delivery to first owner Major J Mann Thomson. The vehicle was first registered ‘CS 1010’, an Ayrshire mark issued in Glasgow, and the car’s association with Scotland would continue for many years. The accompanying continuation logbook records the owner at time of issue (1949) as Wm Murray & Co, Craigmillar Breweries, Edinburgh and the next owner, from September 1962, as Peter Christie, of Leven, Fife. The present owner purchased the car in 1986 from dealer Michael York, of Willesden, London, the immediately preceding private owner having been Scottish rock music legend Rod Stewart, whose name as keeper appears on the accompanying (copy) old Swansea V5. While in present ownership the car has been maintained by A & S Engineering (a member of the Rolls-Royce & Bentley Specialists Association) benefiting from extensive renovation costing in excess of £20,000. Work carried out has included fitting a new cylinder head, new clutch, reconditioned radiator and new starter motor. In addition, the vehicle has been rewired and repainted. Finished in Royal Scottish Blue with black leather interior, the latter boasting an internal sliding division and forward-facing occasional seats, the car is described by the private vendor as in generally excellent condition and running perfectly. We are advised that it has covered fewer than 1,000 miles annually during present ownership and approximately 85,000 in total. The whitewall tyres and darkened, ‘bullet proof’ window glass (installed for Rod Stewart) illustrated in the sale catalogue are no longer fitted, thought the latter is available if required. The vehicle is offered with complete service history since 1986, numerous invoices, current road fund licence/MoT certificate and Swansea V5 registration document.
